Keeping my customers safe during COVID-19

First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest condolences to those who have sadly lost loved ones during these uncertain times. I truly hope that you will be able to find peace and comfort during your time of bereavement.


After 6 months since the UK first went into lockdown, many institutions such as schools and businesses have reopened and are adjusting to the "the new norm". As a cake business, it is essential that I made the necessary changes to ensure that the services I offer are provided in the safest way possible.


According to the WHO, 'it is very unlikely that COVID-19 is transmitted through food or food packaging' and although this information is reassuring, my priority at STLBakes is the safety of my customers and the following is what I have implemented or will continue to do.


If I or anyone in my household have any COVID-19 related symptoms (or if there are other reasons according to the NHS' website), guidance on this matter will be followed and no cake orders will be accepted or fulfil during this period, if this happens, you would be notified of this as soon as possible.

While completing the preventing COVID-19 course, one preventative measure that was emphasised on several occasions was regularly washing your hands as well as regularly cleaning your work surfaces. Being a former nurse, regular handwashing was something that had been embedded in me and I will continue to do this. In addition to this, I also have a 5* food hygiene rating which I pride myself in and take very seriously.


At the moment, no cash is being accepted and all payments should be made by bank transfer.


Face to face consultations are currently on hold but if you have a wedding coming up, first of all CONGRATULATIONS and please get in touch, cake sample boxes can be sent to you and a video consultation can then be arranged.


If your order is for delivery, it will be delivered straight to your doorstep while adhering to the government's social distancing rules and similarly with collection, it will be left at a good distance for you to pick up (please note that I will wear a face mask during collection or delivery). A picture may also be taken to show that the order was delivered or handed over intact and without damage.


Lastly, communication. communication, communication! This is so important in any business and I certainly do not want any of my customers to feel like they are not in the know so if there is something that you would like clarity on, please feel free to contact me so that your mind can be at ease.
